Adeline Eva Brown, 93, of Danville, WV went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House, South Charleston, WV.
Adeline was born January 14, 1921 at Notomine, WV. She was a member of The Blair Church of God, Danville, WV.
Adeline loved to read her Bible and pray. She enjoyed singing solos in church. As a young woman, Adeline played harmonica and played piano. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to walk.
Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Brown Sr.; parents, Edward Riley Lawrence and Mary Ann McVickers; sisters, Beulah Rouse, Nellie Williams, Alice Murphy, Dolly Ballard; half sister, Anna Hamilton; grandson, Kenneth “Kenny” Russell; and great-grandson, Noah Robert Brown.
She is survived by half brother, Robert (Nancy) McVickers; daughters, Nellie (Ray) Warrer of Sandusky, OH, Marcella (Ronald) Blake of Danville, WV; son, James R. Brown Jr. (Linda) of Whitesville, WV; daughters, Patricia (James) Browning of Lorain, OH, Barbara (Glen) Garner of Hagerstown, MD and Shirley Brown of Alum Creek, WV; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 38 great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with her grandsons, Jerry L Browning, Samuel R. Browning and Robbie Carl “Robbie” Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
