Alice L. Nelson

Alice Nelson, 97 years young, of Morrisvale, left her earthly body and entered into the presence of the Lord in the early hours of Monday, April 29, 2019. She was born October 16, 1921.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Stella Browning; three sisters and six brothers, Faye Nelson, Irene Stone, Jean Johnson Pack, Linford, Clifford, Bernie, Frank, Jim and Jack Browning. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, Hershel Nelson; two children, Linda Brake and Bruce Nelson Sr.; two sons-in-law, Dale Cobert and Denzel Brake; a grandson, Bruce Nelson Jr.; a granddaughter, Allison Spurlock and a great-great-grandson, Thomas Hanning.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Larry Nelson Sr. and wife Doris of Streetsboro, Ohio, Phyllis Cobert of Julian, WV, Ruth Hager and husband Roger of Streetsboro, Ohio and Tami Spurlock and husband Rick of Morrisvale, WV; She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren; thirty nine great-grandchildren; and twenty three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Vada Linville, of Coal River Road and Louise Broughton of Morrisvale; last, but certainly not least, a very special caregiver, Amanda Perez who was a great blessing to all the family who cared for “Miss Alice” when they couldn’t.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Yawkey, WV.
