Alvis “Big Al” Justice, Jr. 67, of Julian passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at home after a long battle with ALS.
He retired from Boone County Board of Education maintenance department with 28 years of service. He loved to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. Alvis was a friend to many and enjoyed telling stories and talking with everyone. He loved his family and friends and his favorite canine companion, Sheba.
Born July 13, 1947 he was the son of the late Alvis Justice, Sr. and Violet Miller Justice. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Edward Justice; sisters, Erma Jean Nelson and Brenda Joyce Huffman; and stepdad, Leck Huffman.
He is surivived by his loving wife of 37 years, Brenda Justice; daughters, Helen (James) Sutphin of Julian, Judy (Sam) Stevenson of Yawkey and Christine (Mark) Richardson of Alum Creek; sons, Bernie (Rhonda) Curry of Danville and Gary Justice of Michigan; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Julian with Jimmy Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery, Julian.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
