Arvil “Bobby” Workman Jr., 86, of Van went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 13, 1931 to the late Arvil and Oma Workman (Gayhart). He was a retired construction worker. He was a long time member of the Bigson Freewill Baptist Church where he loved to worship and play music with his church family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Janice Charlean; brothers, Estelle, Ernie Wayne, Harvey Paul, Harley Clyde, James, and Connie Ray; sisters, Sarie Nacel, Doris Jean, and Doyal June; his loving companion, Gladys Gillenwater; and a precious great-granddaughter, Hannah Cook.
He is survived by one brother, Glen Roger of Ashford; children, Robin (Tommy) Tyler of Ridgeview, Steve Workman of Bigson, James (Lisa) Workmen of St. Albans, Patricia (Frealon) Pridemore of Van; grandchildren, Tommy Tyler Jr. of Ridgeview, Amanda (David) Cook of Ridgeview, Brandi (Matt) Harvey of Charleston, Sean Bennett of Van, J.R. McClanahan of St. Albans, Megan (Anthony) Mynes of Tornado, Douglas Ray (Amber) of Joes Creek; along with 13 great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life he enjoyed playing bluegrass and gospel music whenever, where-ever, with whatever he could. He played the guitar, mandolin, and harmonica with and for many family and friends.
The family would like to thank all the member of the Bigson Freewill Baptist Church for always showing their love and support.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Bigson Freewill Baptist Church, Bigson with Jack Kinder, Donald Adkins and Johnny Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
