Barbara Denise Ballard

Barbara Denise Ballard, 61, of Foster, WV passed away Monday, November 6, 2017.

She was born March 16, 1956 and was a daughter of the late Jack and Jewell Ferrell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Russell “Bach” and Hazel Ballard; grandson, Austin Ray Butcher; and brother-in-law, Joe Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Dennie Ballard; daughters, Mary Beth (Earnest) Butcher, Danielle (Jeromey) Crum both of Chapmanville, and Kelly Ballard of Foster; grandkids, Carter Lyles, Cassidy Wilson, Trey Butcher, Sarah Butcher, Baylie Crum, Aleigha Crum and Owen Crum; brother, Rodney Ferrell of Gardner, NC; sister-in-law, Phyllis Johnson of Madison; and brother-in-law, Joe (Ila) Hill of Nicholasville, KY.

Barb was well known, loved, and respected among the people in her community. She loved to talk and was the type of person who never met a stranger. Barb was one of those rare people who when she asked how you were doing, you knew she truly wanted to know. The most important thing to Barb was her family and that sense of family wasn’t limited to those related to her by blood. Barb touched many lives and developed unbreakable friendships through work and her involvement in her kids’ and grandkids’ lives. Barb was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, watching a game, or cheering on her babies from the sidelines. She was her grandkids’ biggest fan.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 10 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Mark Wheatley and Rick Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison. Pall bearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her “yaya’s” Sheila White, Vicki Smith, Mary Thompson, Jenny Bryant, Sharon Elkins, and Wilma Loftus.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
