Barry Dean Epling (AKA Paw Paw Barry) went to be with his Lord May 10, 2019 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
He was a member of the Foster Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Frances Epling and father Ralph Epling; sister Barbara Farley; and brother Billy Epling.
He was survived by his wife of 44 years, Renda Gail Dolin Epling; his daughter Dena Gail (David) Jarrell; and son Michael Dean (Mandi) Epling; grandkids Emilee Jarrell, Adam Epling, Andrew Jarrell, Aaron Epling, Anthony Jarrell, Alex Epling and Annie Epling; sisters, Brenda (Jack) McCloud, and Betty (Clayton) Dolin; and several nieces and nephews.
Barry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired coal miner, member of UMWA, and worked several years at Chemical Valley Lumber. Barry was known locally as “Paw Paw Barry” because of the many years he spent watching and coaching baseball and basketball. Among some of his players over the years have been his son and grandsons. Barry will be missed by so many.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Nate Dolin officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, WV.
