Bennie Lawrence (Larry) Workman, 67, of Six Mile, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center after fighting a long illness.
Larry was a member of the Six Mile United Methodist Church; a brother of the Boone Odd Fellows Lodge #179, which he took great pride in; and was a mine superintendent for almost 30 years.
He was the son of the late Bennie and Ellen Workman; he was also preceded in death by his sister Jackie Pridemore of Low Gap.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Workman of 48 years; his sons, Kevin (Crissy) Workman of Danville and Terry (Katie) Workman of Alcoa, TN; four grandchildren, Scott and Tyler Hensley, Kenda Workman and Ford Bennie Ray Workman; and two great grandchildren, Kylea Jo and Daniel Hensley; sisters, Sharon Pridemore of Grafton, OH, and Mary (Jeff) McClung; two brothers, Wade (Linda) Workman of Big Creek, and Wayne (Judy) Workman of Spring Hill; several very special nieces and nephews; and all of his best friends at the Bias Branch Nutrition Center.
Larry loved coal mining, gardening and spending time with his grandkids.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with the Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
