Bern Edwin (Eddie) Yeager died Sunday, May 19, 2019 after a long illness. He was 71 years old.
Mr. Yeager was born May 9, 1948 in Prenter, West Virginia to the late Bernie and Sadie (Williams) Yeager. He was preceded in death by his brother, Zara Yeager.
He was a 1966 graduate of Sherman High School in Seth, West Virginia. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War (1968-1969). Upon his return from Vietnam he began work at Big Mountain Coal Company in Prenter West Virginia. He remained at Big Mountain, later Peabody Coal Company for 39 years until retirement.
He was an active member and former elder of the Seth Church of Christ. Through the years he preached at many congregations throughout Boone County, West Virginia. Mr. Yeager was very patriotic and loved his country. This was obvious from the display of American flags around his home. He also had a big heart and loved helping others.
Mr. Yeager is survived by his wife of 49 years (one-month shy of 50 years) Tonette (Toni) McNeely Yeager; his daughter, Deborah (Antonio) Lambert of Jackson, Tennessee; his son, Michael (Hillary) Yeager of Carrabelle Beach, Florida; his sisters, Sue Zornes of Madison, West Virginia and Shirley (Clarence) Aleshire of Comfort, West Virginia; he also leaves behind two grandchildren, A.J. Lambert and Charley Yeager whom he adored; and a host of other relatives.
Services for Eddie Yeager will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, West Virginia with Ministers James Farley and Rick Tincher officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, West Virginia.
