Bernard R. Adkins

Bernard R. Adkins, 82, of Cross Lanes, and formerly of South Charleston and Barrett, WV died peacefully on May 27, 2019.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Jim Phillips will preside over the services. Burial will be at Noah White Cemetery, Bim, WV.

Mr. Adkins was born February 8, 1937 in Lundale, WV, a son of the late Clarence and Spicie Adkins. In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence, Jr., Billy, Helen, Esther, Mary, and Frances.

He served in the US Army and attended Dunbar Mountain Mission Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Jarrell Adkins of Cross Lanes, WV; one son, Tim Adkins of Summerville, SC; one daughter, Lisa Adkins (Bob) Bostic of South Charleston; two grandchildren, Emily Bostic and Sam Bostic both of South Charleston, WV; two brothers, Hubert Adkins of Barrett, WV and Mike Adkins of New Baltimore, MI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311.
