Bernard Howell Meadows “B.H.”, 80, of Mt. Clare, formally of Madison, WV passed away September 2, 2015 at UHC Hospital, Bridgeport, WV. He was born May 16, 1935 to the late James Otto “J.O.” Meadows and Marie Price Meadows. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Emil.
He graduated from Scott High in 1953. After graduation he moved to Cleveland, Ohio for a short time then returned to WV working in Charleston. On October 15, 1966 B.H. married Esther Jean Hager of Jeffrey, WV. He returned to Madison working for the State for many years as a jailer, Deputy Sheriff and Chief Deputy of the Boone County Clerks office. He joined Boone Oil Company as a book keeper until his retirement. He then returned to the county commission office until he retired again. B.H. lived at Spars Creek for 47 years. He had many friends and neighbors that he kept in touch with until his passing. He was considered a character by all who knew him. August of last year he moved to Harrison County with his wife to be closer to Jeral and her family.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Jean now living in Mt. Clare, WV; daughter, Jeral Ann and son-in-law, Steve of Mt. Clare; and two granddaughters, Elyse and Grace of Mt. Clare.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. James Browning officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
