Betty Jean Blaylock

Betty Jean Blaylock, age 80, lived a long and wonderful life that began on October 17, 1944 in Detroit, MI to Lidabelle Stafford and Anthony Bressi. She passed away comfortably in her home in Ridgeview, WV on January 22, 2025, with her family at her side and her cat, Mittens, at her feet.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert (Red); son Tony Sykes; sister Linda Cooper; nephew Christopher Cooper; and her cousin Ginny.

She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

Betty loved playing cards, bowling, camping, cooking on an open campfire (chicken), buggy riding, and sitting on her porch watching her birds.

She is survived by her sons Robert (Angela) of Nellis, WV and Jackie Kirk of Ridgeview, WV; daughter Jerri Anne (Dale) of Joplin, MO; daughter-in-law Athena of MI; grandchildren Anthony (Dayna), Nicole (Brad) Dino, Zach (Lyndsey), Joe, Brittani, and William; great-grandchildren Cameron, Alexia, Ari, Santino, Philisity, Octavia, and Kaden; and loving cousin Betty Lou.

A very special thank you to Karen Little for the loving care she has given to Betty for the last 2 years.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 25, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Jim Turley officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Blaylock Cemetery in Ridgeview, WV. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
