Betty Lou Dunlap

September 3, 1943 — November 28, 2014

Betty L. Dunlap, 71, of Nellis, WV, joined her loved ones in heaven on November 28, 2014. One of her favorite Bible verses was John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Betty was born in Brushton, WV, on September 3, 1943. She was the 5th child born to the late Woodie and Daffie (Kinder) Barker. She married Charles Garretson and had 4 children. Two of her children (Timothy and Stevie Eugene) are rejoicing with her now.

She leaves behind 2 children (Belinda Ann Garretson of Nellis, WV, and Charley Ray Garretson of Madison, WV), her granddaughter, Holly Garretson, her godson, Jamie, and her 2 little angels, Isaiah and Alayna. She also leaves her darling little poodle, Sissy, 10, who was born on her birthday. Betty was preceded in death by 2 brothers (Clyde Eugene Barker and Bobby Joe Barker) and a sister (Patsy Ruth Turley).

She is survived by her sister, Mary E. Dunlap of Nellis and 2 brothers (Earnest Ray Barker of Ohio and Roger Barker of Madison). Her 2nd husband, David Dunlap, also survives her.

Betty was a member of the Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church, Ridgeview. She attended church regularly until her health began to decline. She had a great faith in God and always trusted Him. She was always kind, gentle, and had a heart of gold. She was a meticulous housekeeper and was most creative with decorating.

Betty will be greatly missed as she was loved by everyone who knew her.

Graveside services will be 2pm, Sunday, November 30 at Kinder Cemetery in Brushton, WV, with Danny Kinder officiating. Arrangements are entrusted with Handley Funeral Home.

“I know in my heart what she meant to me. I cannot express my sadness in words. She was my security and without her I am afraid. I just want to hide away from reality. I don’t want to face my days to come. Mom was my everything and I am so lost without her. I will always love you, Mom, forever and ever.” Belinda
