Betty Louise (Adkins) Gillispie, 71 of Ridgeview, WV, went home to the Lord, Saturday, August 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born November 4, 1951 to the late Herbert and Ethel (McCallister) Adkins. She was a lifelong resident of Boone County where she graduated from Sherman High School and was a 30 +years employee of Charleston Heating. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Those who knew her loved her dearly. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Michelle Gillispie-Hayes and sister Alice Faye Ramsey.
Those left to cherish her memory are: daughter, Angela Gillispie of Cross Lanes and daughter/granddaughter Hailey Downey (Nicci) of Huntington, WV, son, Donald “Lil’ Don” Gillispie Jr of Ridgeview. Brother, Andy (Shelley) Adkins of Ridgeview, Sisters: Clarice (Jesse) Collins of Logan WV, Kathy Thompson and Jeannie Little of Ridgeview, Darlene Pauley of Madison. Work daughter, Ali (Gunner & Ollie) Moore of Charleston, WV. Grandchildren: Tyler, Kierstan, Kaiden & Gage Hayes all of Madison. Adrianna Gillispie-Kinchen of Ridgeview, Hunter Gillispie of Huntington, Alex & Jacob Gillispie of Madison, William Price of Madison and Taylor Owens of Charleston WV, special sons-in-law Greg Hayes and Billy Steadman And a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and her fur babies, Little Bit, Teddy Bear & Zoey.
The family wishes to say a special thank you to caregivers Shelley Slagle, Denna Linville & Adrianna Kinchen for all the care, help, support and love during Betty’s courageous fight.
Funeral services will be at the Ashford Church of God-Holiness, Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 6:00 with visitation from 4:00 to 6:00, with Randall Kinder officiating the services. Burial will be in the Kinder Cemetery, Brushton, WV.
