Bobby Joe Barker, 57, of Nellis, WV passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. The day Christ rose from the grave is the day he chose for Bobby to enter heaven.
Bobby was the sixth of seven children born on September 1, 1956, to the late Daffie and Woodie Barker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Eugene Barker; and sister, Patsy Ruth Turley.
Bobby is survived by his sister/guardian for the past 44 years, Mary E. Dunlap, sister, Betty L. Dunlap; brother, Ernest Ray Barker and brother, Roger Barker.
For the past 6 months Bobby was loved and cared for by his sister Mary and brother Roger in Madison, WV. The family extends great gratitude to his day caregiver for the past 3 ½ years, Angela King, who was always so kind and gentle with him. We thank Blitz Turner, NP, who always provided the best care for him and Dr. Kris Murthy, neurologist.
Bobby loved going to church at the Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church at Ridgeview. He always wanted to go early to use his key to unlock the doors. He attended until his failing health prevented him from doing so. He was a born-again Christian and was truly an angel. His testimony leaves a legacy for all. He had attended Shawnee Hills Workshop in his younger years.
Our hearts are heavy-laden as we mourn the loss of Bobby but his spirit will live on forever in the lives of those he touched. We know God has taken him home to be with him. John 11: 25-26 (Jesus said unto her [Martha], I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?)
There will be a graveside service at 1 pm Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Bobby will be laid to rest at the Kinder Cemetery in Brushton, WV.
Handley Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. You may express your condolences to the family at www.handleyfh.com.
