Bobby D. Smith

Bobby D. Smith, widowed husband of his beloved wife Barbara of 59 years, passed away February 23, 2017 with his three children by his side. Bobby was born in Ethel, WV October 30, 1935. He was the son of the late Virgil and Sydney Smith.

Bobby was a retired member of the UMWA. He loved life and in his later years he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Barbara and his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by brothers Junior (Virgil) and Shorty (Charles) Smith and granddaughter Angela Lester.

He is survived by his children Allen (Sandy) Smith, Stephanie (Kenny) Lester, and Jeff (Tina) Smith all from Hewett, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Judy Hager, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm Monday, February 27, 2017 at Handley Funeral Home Danville with Rev. Joe Lane and Harold Ray Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens Madison. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
