Cary Lee Duffey, 60, of Edgewood, Maryland passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 9th, 2022. Cary was born in Madison, WV to Raymond Ray (deceased) and Patsy (Akers) Duffey of Low Gap.
He was the second child of six children. His surviving siblings are Lana (Mike) Barker of Foster, Timmy (Debbie) Duffey of Foster, Susan (Kevin) Trammell of Danville, and Beckie (Richard) Darnell of Low Gap. Cary leaves behind loving nieces and nephews: David (Tiffany) Barker, Jennifer (Tom) Gamino, Kirsten (Shane) Harless, Chelsea (Zach) Anderson, Abby (Devin) Bayer, Sami Jo Duffey, Lexi (C.J. Oldham) Trammell, Dylan Duffey, Keely and Keira Darnell and many great nieces and nephews. Additional survivors that were special to Cary are Nell and Gary Caldwell of Edgewood, Maryland with whom he loved and cherished as family. He also leaves behind his loving fiancé, Drema Workman of Princeton, WV.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother Gregory Duffey; paternal grandparents Grayson Duffey and Nellie Kelley; and maternal grandparents Baxter Dave and Nessell Akers.
Cary attended Mozart Elementary School, Ashford-Rumble Grade School, Sherman High School, and Scott High School. He served our country in the U.S. Army Reserves and has worked in construction and painting positions in Texas and Maryland. He was currently employed by Ellicott Dredge in Baltimore, Maryland as an industrial painter upon his death. Cary attended the Presbury United Methodist Church in Edgewood, Maryland and he loved his church family. Cary was a kind soul that was willing and ready to help anyone in need. He loved his family and friends alike.
Services to celebrate Cary’s life will be on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at 2pm at Handley Funeral Home. Viewing for friends will be from 1-2pm and the funeral services will follow. Burial will be at Memory Gardens following the services provided by Reverend Roger McCauley and Harold Ray Ball. Military services will be provided by the Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, WV.
