Cecil William Sosebee

February 19, 1925 — March 4, 2015

Cecil William Sosebee, born February 19, 1925 in Blue Ridge, Georgia went home to be with our Lord on March 4, 2015.

He was a proud World War II veteran and resided in Van, WV for the past 66 years. Cecil faithfully attended Gordon Union Church for the past 34 years and was a true witness for Christ and was loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ozella; sons, Jerry and Charles all of Van; his parents, Luther and Ola (Pack) Sosebee; brothers, Ernest, Grady, Homer C., Arvil, Audlee and Amos and sister, Radie (Lucy), all of Georgia; and grandson, William Mark Sosebee of Prestonburg, Kentucky.

He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy and her spouse Ronal Hall and Marie and her spouse Wendell Harper all of Van; daughter-in-law, Brenda Sosebee of Charleston; two sisters, Ruby Elrod and Pearl Martin and brother, Hubert Sosebee all of Georgia. Cecil had 12 grandchildren, Denise, Diana, Mark, Jeff, Tina, Matthew, Julie, Ron, Mark, Jamie, Elijah and Arron. He had 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Handley Funeral home, Danville with ministers Roscoe Chafin, Phil Rowe and Matt Johner officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 Madison, WV.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
