Cecil Guy Stowers

Cecil Guy Stowers, 72, of Danville, WV passed away August, 29, 2015, peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born May 17, 1943 in Bulger, WV and was a son of the late Soder and Estie Stowers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Jarrell; brothers, Pete Stowers, Bobby Stowers and Reed Stowers; and grandson, Jacob Dolin.

He was a 32nd. Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, a member of the 1st Calvary Artillery Division in the United States Army and a member of Daniel Boone VFW Post No. 5578, Madison, WV. He was a proud underground coal miner of 28 years and a Federal Mine Inspector. He was a family man and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was a friend to all and a father figure to many.

Cecil is survived by Betty, his wife of 53 years; children, Lloyd Stowers and wife Renee of Hewett, Robin Dolin and husband Jack of Danville, Scottie Stowers and wife Marsha of Danville and Jenni Nelson of Julian. Cecil was blessed to help raise two special men, Ronald Smith and Timmy Darnell, who he called his own; grandchildren, DJ Dolin and wife Aleisha, Beth Smith, Chris Dolin, Ryan Stowers, Wesley Nelson and Carson Stowers; great-granddaughters, Addison Maybrielle Dolin and Amelia Traci Ann Dolin; brothers, Duane Stowers and wife LaDonna, Dennis Stowers and wife Judy; sisters, Janice Miller and husband Hansel, Carol White and husband Jack and Sue Spence and husband Gary. He also had many nieces and nephews who he loved so much.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Doug Smith and Mark Wheatley officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville with military graveside rites perfomed by Daniel Boone VFW Post No. 5578 Madison, WV.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
