CHARLES EDWARD, 68 and BETTY LUE THACKER, 60, (husband and wife), of Branchland, both passed away Thursday June 9, 2016.
Betty Lue passed at Hospice House of Huntington, surrounded by her family and friends. She worked as a manager at Big Loafer Restaurant at the Huntington Mall for around 20 years. Born in West Hamlin on April 11, 1956, she was the wife of Charles for 44 years. The daughter of the late Arthur Merritt of Branchland, she was also predeceased by a brother, Mark Merritt.
She is survived by her mother, Reanice "Sis" Merritt Hale of Branchland. Betty Lue is also survived by siblings, brothers, Charlie Merritt of Branchland; Delbert Merritt of Montgomery, WV; Aice and Linda Merritt of Texas; Earl Peanut and Ann Merritt of Huntington, WV; John and Charlotta Hale of Clinton, NC; Stanley "Keith" and Penny Hale of Branchland, WV; Harold "Bundy" and Bonnie Hale of Branchland, WV; one sister, Debra "Jo" and Bill Jeffrey of West Hamlin; a special cousin, Patty Pritchard Robinson of West Hamlin; and a large number of nieces and nephews that loved her very much.
Charles, who also passed on June 9 at home, was the son of Mildred and the late Jacob Thacker. He was born on June 4, 1948. He was a retired carpenter. He has two surviving siblings, a brother, Howard Thacker, and a sister, Joan Cox. He was predeceased by five siblings, David Thacker, Laura Dean, Myrtle Miller, Rickey Thacker, and Kenneth Thacker. Charles and Betty Lue were predeceased by their son, Charles "Hokey" Thacker and are survived by two living sons, Jake "Pete" Thacker and Arthur Thacker; and by five grandchildren, Tanessa "Peanut" Thacker, Sara Thacker, Kendra Thacker, Kristen Thacker, and Jacob Miller, all of Branchland. In addition, they are survived by a niece they raised, Patricia.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 14, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin, WV. The funeral will be 12:00 noon Wednesday June 15, 2016 at Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin, WV. Burial will take place at The Thacker Cemetery, Branchland, WV.
