Charles Edward Kennedy

Charles Edward Kennedy, 92, of West Madison, WV was born January 2, 1926 at Earling, WV, youngest son of the late Perry and Easter (Noe) Kennedy. He went to be with the Lord at 2:15 a.m. on January 15, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown after a short illness.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Perry Kennedy Jr. and Marion Kennedy; his angel and beloved wife of 62 years, Ruby Bernice (Hill) Kennedy; daughters, Gloria Jean and son-in-law Wellington (Hank) Burgess and Patricia Ann Wright.
He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 19th Infantry Regiment of the 24th Division from August 18, 1945 to September 9, 1946. He was a retired coal miner of Beckley Mining and was a member of the UMWA.
Those left to cherish his memory: daughter, Darlene and (Ray) Barker of West Madison; grandchildren, Charles Henry Burgess, Sherry and (Matthew) Metts of Fosterville, MD, Cliff Jr. (Jane) Wright of Chesterfield, VA, Stephen and (Beverly) Wright of Midlothian, VA, John and (Sarah) Barker of Charlotte, NC and Samuel and (Jessica) Barker of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Burgess, Christopher Burgess, Aaron McKinney, Rachel McKinney, Hunter Wright, Megan Wright, Nehemiah Wright and Grant Barker; and his church family and friends of New Hope Baptist Church whom he loved dearly.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 19 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Ray Barker officiating. Burial will be in Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, Virginia.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
