Charles Franklin Nunley, Sr. of Madison passed away on December 23, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House West, Charleston after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late Matthew Hubbert Nunley and Florence Browning Nunley. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Matthew Nunley and Donald Edmund Nunley; and sisters, Ruby C. Short, Juanita Cook and Louise Nunley.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Peggy Madelene Brown Nunley; two sisters, Helen J. Lester of Elyria, Ohio and Betty Jo (David) Hinkle of Amherstdale; two sons, Charles Franklin (Shelia) Nunley, Jr. of Foster and Jimmy Matthew (Candace) Nunley of Poca; two daughters, Sheree’ Jean (Stan) Shaw of Edmond, OK and Kelly Leigh (Donald) Harless of Danville; grandchildren, Christopher (Georgina) Nunley of Foster, Savannah Len and Darren Harless of Danville and Lindsey Marie and Lacey Brooke Nunley of Poca; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Pastor Johnny Barker and friend, Keith Casto officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the David Lee Cancer Center, American Cancer Society or Hospice House.
