Charles L. Toppings

Mr. Charles L. Toppings, 86, of Piney Flats, TN passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in Corner Stone Village.
Charles was a long time resident of Chesapeake, OH. He was a son of Sesco and Elva Lucas Toppings. Charles was born in Man, WV. He was a graduate of Hamlin High School in Hamlin, WV. He served in the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal during his service. Charles retired from C&O Railroad where he worked as a clerk.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one brother, Robert A. Toppings.
Survivors include three sons Charles “Ed” (Sheila) Toppings of Tennessee, William “Bill” (Vickie) Toppings of Vermont, and Steve (Karen) Toppings of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Chris, Melissa, Carrie, Cortney, Joey and Rhett; six great grandchildren, Cash, Collier, Camryn, Caroline, Cora and Milly.
Family and friends are welcomed to a grave site service at Franklin Cemetery in Branchland, WV at 2 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 with military graveside rites performed by American Legion Post 111, Hamlin, WV.
