Chester Wayne Cook

Chester Wayne Cook (Chig), 70, of Bim W.V. passed away November 4, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Bethal and Helen Cook; sister Vickie Stewart; and stepdaughter Jeanie Greiner.

Chester leaves behind his beloved wife Bernadine Cook of 21 years; stepsons Billy Ray Castle and Derek Castle Sr; stepdaughter Susan White; sister-in-Law Mamie White; grandsons Derek Castle Jr and Tylor Carter; his beloved siblings, Nada and Gary Pauley of Peytona, Patricia and Stanley Cook of Bald Knob, Hazel and James Asbury of Brandywine; brothers-in-law Billy Stewart of Williams Mountain, Steven and Carmon Cook of Bald Knob, Danny and Tina Cook of Bald Knob, Deloris and Jeff Gibson of Bald Knob, and Amanda and Barry Collins of Kenova; 16 plus Nieces and Nephews and 23 plus great nieces and nephews.

Chester attended the Wharton Missionary Baptist Church in Wharton WV. He retired in 2008 after 35 years in the coal mining industry and was a Member of the UMWA Local 9177. Chester Loved the outdoors. Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, riding around in the Mountains looking for “Molly Moochie’s”, working in the garden and most importantly he loved his family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Alvin Browning officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Cemetery, Bandytown, WV.

Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
