Clarence “Porter” Snodgrass, 77, of Racine, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 6, 2018. Porter was born in Racine, WV on January 2, 1941 to Dave and Lillian Bias Snodgrass.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brothers, Ray, George, Charles and Herbert Snodgrass.
He is survived by his only child, Lisa Kay Snodgrass of Bloomingrose, WV; sisters, Oma Bolon of Harper, WV, Mary Jarrell of Port Royal, SC, Mabel Smith of Mt. Hope, WV and Mildred Barker and husband Hanley of Racine, WV; a very special friend, Sue Brammer of Seth; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him and will cherish his memory.
Porter was known for his love of God, motorcycling, family, and most of all his unlimited love and dedication to his daughter, Lisa. He attended the First Baptist Church of Racine and enjoyed being a part of their choir. He loved to sing and to play the harmonica for whoever would listen. Those who knew him best could undoubtedly share one of his many jokes or whimsical stories. His boisterous personality and love of life made it impossible not to love him.
Porter proudly served our country as a Private First Class in the Army National Guard, 1st Reconnaissance Squadron, 150th Armed Calvary, Headquarters Troop. He received a special letter of recognition for his active duty tour during the Berlin Mobilization.
Porter was best known for his service as a Boone County Magistrate for 24 years. He was also a former employee of Owens Libby Owens, Cabot Oil and Gas Company, a mechanic for the Boone County BOE, and Director of Boone County Ambulance Authority. He was a member of the Racine Volunteer Fire Department.
You are invited to celebrate the life of Clarence Porter Snodgrass at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV. Friends may gather Sunday, June 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for visitation.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 11 at 11 a.m. with Anthony Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison, WV with Military Graveside Rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, WV.
