On October 15, 2015 Claude “The Woodman” Huffman was called home to be with the Lord and his loving late wife of 53 years, Jackie Huffman after years of fighting his illness. Claude was home comforted by family at the time of his passing.
He was born in Morrisvale on May 12, 1929 and was one of seven children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ward “Bunk” Huffman. He served in the Korean War. He married his one and only late wife, Jackie on March 29, 1953. He retired from Olin Chemical after 22 years of work, moving back to WV in 1991. He loved fishing, hunting and most of all cutting and selling his wood. He loved staying busy cutting wood, piddling in the garage, tending his garden, making the best pickled beets and loved playing cards. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Randy (Kathy) Huffman of Medina, NY, C. Bruce Huffman of Julian and Peggy Huffman of Julian; grandchildren, David Huffman of Rochester, NY, Jody Huffman of Yawkey and Holley Huffman of Madison; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Huffman (16), William Stacy (13) Allie Barker (10) and Skylar Barker (4); and friend, Maxine Adkins.
In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with David Bowman officiating. Burial will follow n Memory Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 Madison, WV.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
