Cleveland “Cleve” Earl McClanahan, 77, of Wharton has “Gone to meet the Lord.” He died April 1, 2013 at 8 p.m. at Boone Memorial Hospital, Madison.
He was born May 9, 1935 and was a son of the late Lee and Sadie Jewell McClanahan. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue; sisters, Lulie, JoAnn, Barbara, Doris and Brenda; and brothers, Charles, Ronnie and Edward.
He was a retired coal miner with 35 years of service and was a member of the UMWA. Cleve was a hard worker not only in the mines but also at the Sawmill and in other things he did. He was a member of the former Wharton Church of God. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years in June, Dorothy McClanahan; sisters, Jammie Samson and Lois Ann White; brothers, Donnie and Bobby; sisters-in-law, Faye and Karen; lots of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank Boone Memorial Hospital and all family members and friends who helped during his illness.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 5 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with ministers Jerri and Troy Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.
