Cordia Estep Covert, 93, of Madison, WV received a call today, April 18, 2016 and can’t refuse the invitation. She has been invited to unite with old friends, family and the Lord. She will go to a better place where people can love, socialize and trust. Her wishes are for everyone to celebrate her mission and wants all to know that she will be at the right hand of the Lord. On earth she did a great job and we are envious of her invitation. It is known that Cordia worked hard and made a difference in the lives of many.
Cordia was the wife of the former Elvin Covert and Collie Estep of Madison, WV. She was a member of the Madison Baptist Church for 60 years, employed by the US Postal Services, Aero Maping Co., and retired from the Boone County Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aid.
Cordia was born May 4, 1922 to the late Foster and Martha Harlan of Lincoln County and was preceded in death by nine sisters; and two brothers.
Surviving are sister, Sue Byrd of St. Albans, WV; her son, Richard (Linda) Covert; grandson, Zachary Covert; and many nieces and nephews.
Cordia’s New Life Celebration will begin with a viewing at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20th at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with service following at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jim Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
In lieu of flowers at her request, contributions are to be made to Madison Baptist Church, 426 Second Street, Madison, WV 25130.
