Corella McKinney Bell

Corella McKinney Bell, 88, of Danville, WV passed into eternal rest with her Lord and savior on Tuesday September 19, 2023. She was born March 30, 1935, to Acy and Ona Kuhn of Van, WV.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Darrell J. McKinney and her second husband, Dennis Bell, her only sister Pauline Kuhn, her brother Chester Kuhn and son in law Darrell Aleshire, Jr.  

She is survived by her daughters: Darlene (Mark) McClure; Jacqueline (Michael) Hill all of Danville, her son Charles McKinney of Neola, WV. Grandchildren. Crystal (Jeremy) Boros of Hubert, NC; Sarah (Opie) Collins of Danville, WV; and CD (Kelsey) McKinney of Milton, WV. Great grandchildren: Cheyenne (Chase) Hopkins, Keira Boros and William Boros all of Hubert, NC; Sadie and Charlie Collins of Danville, WV and Sawyer and Rowan McKinney of Milton, WV. Brothers Kenneth (Hazel) Kuhn of Madison; David (Sherry) Kuhn of Danville and many nieces and nephews. Corella also opened her heart and home to many children of the community.   

 Corella and Darrell operated McKinney’s Exxon and provided many young men in the area their first work experience. She was a long-time member of the Danville Church of Christ and the Madison Rebekah Lodge, where she was known for her amazing cooking ability, although she hardly ever measured any ingredients. Many of us could do well by heeding the advice she always gave her children: “Work hard, make your own way, never depend on anyone to provide for you.” 

Services will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Evangelist Kenneth Mitchell officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
