Dale Lee Cohenour, Sr.

Dale Lee Cohenour, Sr. passed away May 15, 2023 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV.

Dale was born in Omar, WV at home.  His family returned to Greenbrier County where he spent his childhood with his seven siblings.

He was a graduate of Greenbrier West High School.  He worked in the coal mines as an electrician until his health declined.  One of the hardest workers you would ever meet.  He was a brilliant, self-educated man. Once when he was laid off from the mines, he took classes in physics and chemistry.  Oh, the discussions we had! I sure will miss you Dad. 

He was preceded by his parents, William Arthur and Virginia D. Jones Cohenour; daughter, Vickie Patterson; granddaughter, Alexandria T. Cohenour; brothers, James Cohenour and Bill Cohenour; and a sister, Brenda Gail Cohenour.  

Dale is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Cohenour; children, Leevetta (Rodney) Holstein and Dale (Bonita) Cohenour, Jr.; stepchildren, Matthew (Brency) Huffman, Nick (Amanda) Huffman and Jesse (Erica) Huffman; 29 grandchildren; siblings Frank (Linda) Cohenour of Macclenny, Fl, Rose (Leonard) Carter of Alderson, Wanda Holliday of Pence Springs, and Mary Bailey (Avery) of Beckley. Melva Cohenour sister-in-law and Keith A. Holliday of Smoot. Also, multiple surviving nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Logan Regional Hospital CCU Staff and physicians.  Also, Rachel Hill, RN at the former Davita Center in Danville.  He praised your care for him and your beautiful singing. 

No more suffering, no more pain.  Even though you weren’t religious Dad, I hope you are with your sweet Mama, my grandma Ginny.  Love you, Dad.
