Dana Richard Tawney, 80, of Foster died at his home on March 22, 2017. He was born April 12, 1936 son of the late Sigel & Mertie Griffis Tawney. He was a retired coal miner, a job which he loved, and had his foreman papers and other certificates. He was a member of Rock Creek Church of Christ and enjoyed ginsenging, fishing, and hunting.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son Richard Darrell Tawney; brothers Harold, Billy, and Johnny Tawney; sisters Gaynell Estep, Helen Rowe, and Ella Tawney.
He is survived by his wife Janice, sons Kevin Tawney of St. Marys and Jonathan Tawney of Prenter; daughters Vickie Robinette, Joyce Smith and Rose Collins of Foster; sons in law Carl Smith and Rob Collins; daughter in law Kimberly Tawney; brother Jerry Tawney of Danville; grandchildren Ronald Robinette, Jimmy Robinette, Dana Jo Robinette, Franklin Smith, Tiffany Smith, Brandon Brown, Blake Brown, Alexander Tawney, Catherine Tawney, Richard Tawney Jr., Savannah Tawney, and Chloe Tawney; great grandchildren Paeton Robinette, Ronald Robinette III, Alydia Robinette, Reese Tawney, Matthew, Olivia, and Colby; with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Saturday March 25, 2017 at Handley Funeral Home Danville with Johnny Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Cabell Tawney Cemetery at Foster. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
