Mourning the loss of Danny K. Burns 70 who passed away January 28, 2024 surrounded by loved ones by his side.
Danny was born January 12, 1954, in Madison, WV to Betty Ann Nelson and Darious Burns. Danny grew up in a large loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earnest, Eddie, Gaylen Burns and sister Betty Ruth Ball. He was a 1971 graduate of Van High School.
Danny is survived by lifelong partner, Charlotte Walker; sisters, Denita Miller ,Becky (Dennis) Jarrell; daughters, Kimberly Gibson and Carrie Burns; stepson, Scott (Julie) Epling; step daughter, Vanessa (Scott) Epling; grandchildren, Daniel (Casey) Gibson, Jazmyn Gibson, Seth Epling, Jordan Epling, Kole Epling, Devan (KK) Chandler; special nephew, Mark (Shawna) Miller, Jr. and many nephews, nieces and friends.
In life Danny worked as a coal miner and “The Boss” for Armco, Peabody and Patriot. After 37 years he retired in 2004 from Big Mountain #16 in Prenter. But the best part of life was being a father and papaw. Tinkering in his building, fishing, hunting, pool parties for the kids, camping a most of all helping his family and friends selflessly with anything and everything. And known around town fondly known as the Mayor of Bull Creek.
Danny Burns was a once in a lifetime man and will be forever missed by all who were blessed to know him.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Danny Burns name to Van Jr Sr High School female sports no amount is too big or small.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024 Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Craig Wills officiating.
Friends may call 5:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
