David Drexel Bowman

Pastor David D. Bowman, 61, of Julian went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. He was born October 20, 1954 in Madison, WV to Martha Ann and George Smith.

He was saved April 14, 1968 and pastored over 30 years for two churches, Porter Fork Baptist Church and Maple Hill Baptist Church. He was a coal miner and retired after 28 years of service and was a member of the UMWA.

He is survived by the love of his life, Pam Bowman; daughters, Kelly Francisco (Shane) and Kristy Bays (Jason); five grandchildren who were the light of his life, Kayla, Jaxson, Olivia, Abigail and Haley. He is also survived by his parents, Martha Ann and George Smith; sisters, Vicky Long (Jr.) and Dreama Green (Doug); brother, Steve Smith (Teresa); a whole bunch of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Home Health, Holly, Gary, Tracy and Angie and all the EMS and first responders of the Morrisvale Fire Department and Ambulance service.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Scott Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
