David Alexander Cartwright, 70, of West Hamlin died October 18, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1943 a son of the late John C. and Glenna Johnson Cartwright. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Roger Cartwright. He was a Boilermaker for Park Drop Forge and a Graduate of Guyan Valley High School class of 1962.
He is survived by his wife Sandra; Daughters: Angela Cartwright and her mother Phyllis, Sandy Giddings, Theresa Zorn, and Melissa Cartwright. Sons: Jonathan Cartwright, David Cartwright Jr., 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Brothers and Sisters: Barbara Couch, Beverly Brown, Blackie Cartwright, Belinda Cooper and Kimberly Wilson. Several nieces and nephews and two very special brothers-in-law Elbert Jr. Cooper, and Gene Couch.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday October 21, 2013 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV with Lenny Romans and Lonnie Wilson officiating. The burial will follow in the Arix Cemetery, Branchaland, WV. Pallbearers will be Rob Cartwright, Daniel Cartwright, Elbert Cooper, Gene Couch, Bill Wilson and Jamie Stratton. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Webb, Larry Carey and Jimmy Brown.
The visitation will be Sunday October 20, 2013 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chateau Grove of Barboursville, and the doctors and nurses of St. Mary's Medical Center for their outstanding care and treatment he received over the last 3 1/2 years.
