David Lee Dingess

David Lee Dingess, 87, of Bob White, WV, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025. 

David was born September 14, 1937 to the late William and Ona Dingess in Van, WV.  After graduating from Van High School in 1955, he attended Morris Harvey College and worked for Boone County Schools in Van, WV. David later retired from Eastern Associated Coal Company after 36 years of dedication. He was a member of the UMWA, Masons, and Shriners. David was a sports fan, always rooting for the NY Yankees, WVU Mountaineers, and his Van Bulldogs. He loved his family, his friends, and especially his dogs, Jeeter and Merlin. 

David is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sandra Kay Dingess; sons Larry Brown and Doug Brown; brothers Namon Dingess, Dick Dingess, John Dingess, and Jerry Dingess; and sister Mary Jane Kendall.

Left to cherish David's memory are his sons, David (Trena) Dingess of Danville, WV and Joey (Alicia) Dingess of Hurricane, WV; Barry (Connie) Brown of Bob White, WV, and Roger (Debra) Brown of Charleston, WV; grandchildren Carly Dingess, Caden Dingess, Joshua (Chelsea) Brown, Cody Brown, Hannah (Nick) Bartic; great-grandchildren Cindel Brown, Elliot Brown, Nora Bartic, and Liam Brown; brothers Billy Dingess of Van, WV, Ronald Dingess of Charleston, WV, Donald (Billie Sharon) Dingess of Wharton, WV, Roger (Kim) Dingess of Elkview, WV, and Larry (Brenda) Dingess of DE; sister Delores Jean Davis of Charleston, WV;  and special friend and caretaker Dorothy Dunlap. David is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. 

Services for David will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Rev. Tom Bias officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Memory Gardens in Madison, WV.
