David “Nick” Hager passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018. He was born March 1, 1984 in Charleston WV.
He is survived by his loving parents; David R. and Tammy Hager of Six Mile, sister; Tarah Hager, grandfather; George Hager of Cox’s Fork, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Max and Pat Hager, uncle Joey Hager of Six Mile and grandmother Freda Hager of Cox’s Fork.
Nick was a Scott High graduated Class of 2002 where he played basketball and football his freshman year. After high school following family tradition he became a coal miner until he was laid off then moved to Florida to do tile work with his cousin Josh Clay briefly before returning home but continued to do carpentry work.
Nick was always the life of the party, could make you laugh when you were down, charm the stripes off a snake and would always do anything for those he cared for—including going to his sister’s rescue to kill a spider – despite not liking them himself. He always hoped and wished for his friends sobriety; again worrying about others before himself. He could always be found watching WVU football games on Saturdays. He also enjoyed being outdoors, riding the four wheeler or shooting pool. Nick was baptized at the age of 16 and although he didn’t remain in church his faith in God never dimmed. He prayed daily and one of his last wished was for his family to rejoin church.
