Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Adkins, 71, of Seacoal passed away on January 23, 2017, after a short illness at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Debbie was a retired employee of the Boone County Board of Education where she worked as a custodian, bus aide, and teacher’s aide all over Boone County.
Debbie was preceded in death and was met in heaven by her mother, Arnie Aleshire Johnson and father Edward Mullins, as well as step-father Walter “Johnny” Johnson, and her infant son David Allen Adkins.
Debbie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Spencer United Methodist Church. She loved to sing and did so all of her life at home with her family and with her mother, the late Arnie Johnson and her sister, Delores Bias, in their Christian singing group, “Mama’s Family”.
Debbie is survived and will greatly be missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Jarvie “Gene” Adkins; four children, Barry (Teresa) Adkins of Chillicothe, OH, Jerry (Angela) Adkins of Danville, Dustin (Rachael) Adkins of Winfield, and Jennifer (Jason) Blevins also of Seacoal. She is survived by nine loving grandchildren, Alex Adkins, Chelsea Adkins, Demitria Adkins, Taylor (Andrew) Chapman, Hayley Adkins, Ian Adkins, Cody Blevins, Owen Blevins and LeighAnn Lynn Adkins; and three great grandchildren. She is also loved and survived by her sisters, Deloris (Charles) Bias of Danville, Sue (Harold) Inge of Amherst, VA and brother, Dallas Mullins of Lynchburg, VA.
The entire family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses, physicians and entire staff at CAMC Memorial CPICU for their excellent services and care during this difficult time.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville,WV with Grant Cradock and the Rev. Tom Bias officiating. Burial will follow in Adkins Cemetery, Jeffrey, WV.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
