Dillard Lucas, 94 of Ranger, WV passed away at home on April 17, 2015. He was born March 23, 1921 a son of the late Winfred and Lucy Frye Lucas. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dolly "Dee" Williamson Lucas; a sister Ella "Sis" Triplett; brothers, Ferd, Chester, Charlie, Mack, Collie, Leonard, and Donald "Tiny" Lucas; son-in-law Eddie Scites; and daughter-in-law Tammy Rose Smith Lucas. He was an Army WWII Veteran, a retired UMWA coal miner of Amherst Coal Company, a member of 14 Mile Church of Christ and a member of American Legion Post 111 of Hamlin, WV.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Lucas Scites of Milton, WV; three sons, Todd (Sharlene Moore) Lucas of Ranger, WV, Jamie Lucas of Ranger, WV and Joey (Selena) Lucas of Salt Rock, WV; sister Lillian "Peep" Tomblin; grandchildren, Jodi Lucas (Lee) Pennington, Megan Scites (Aaron) Withrow, Austin Lucas, Jamie Neal Lucas, Tylor Lucas, Rielly Lucas, Brodee Lucas, and Laney Lucas; nephew, Dennis Triplett; and many special family members and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday April 20, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV, with Shelton Topping and Gary Topping officiating. Burial will follow at Lucas Cemetery, Ranger, WV with military honors by American Legion Post 111, Hamlin, WV.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
