Donald Ray Adkins

Donald Ray Adkins, 79, of Danville, WV departed this life on Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital, Charleston, WV. Donnie was born on September 19, 1938 to the late Emmitt Calvin and Florence Elkins Adkins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elwood Elkins; and three sisters, Irene Shane, Betty Renfroe, and Janet Asbury. Donnie was a Veteran of the US Army, a member of the UMWA and United Steel Workers, and retired from the construction industry.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Beulah "Faye" Adkins; three children, Rita Roberts of Six Mile, WV, Cindy (Leslie) Vickers of Foster, WV and Scotty (Carmella) Adkins of Belle, WV; eight grandchildren, Josh Adkins of Danville, Amanda (Eric) Miller of Mud River, Brandon Roberts of Lincoln County, WV, Tessa (Jason) Cook of Philipsburg, PA, Lesley Vickers of Dallas, TX, Ben Vickers of Dallas, TX, Michael (Jenny) Ellis of Peytona, WV, Ryan (Rebecca) Adkins of Low Gap, WV; ten great-grandchildren, Sydney, Hallee, Tyler, Mason, Caleb, Jaylee, Chelsea, Chrissy, Katie, and Aubree; great-great grandchild, Keeley and adopted great-great grandchild, Dalynn; two brothers, Bill (Cora) Adkins and Gene (Debbie) Adkins; sisters, Letha Miller and Roxanne James; and adopted brother, Larry Green.

Donnie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather. He was our John Wayne and our Superman. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 9 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
