Dorcas Ann “Dot” McClure, 84, of Branchland, WV passed away on October 16 at St. Mary’s Medical Center after a courageous battle with chronic kidney disease.
She was born May 4, 1932 in Branchland. She was the daughter of the late Forrest and Verlie Donahue and granddaughter of Henry H. Davidson. Besides her parents and grandfather she is preceded in death by her husband Bernard G. McClure, her sister and brother-in-law Carl and Deloris White, and two cousins who were like siblings Gail H. Dial Jr. and Gaylena Midkiff Frye.
Surviving her are her three children and their spouses, her son Forrest and Tammy Adkins of Branchland, daughter Jonel and Terry Pullen of Barboursville, daughter Libby and Greg Johnson of West Hamlin, Her 5 grandsons that she adored and were so proud of their accomplishments, Matthew Pullen, Timmy Adkins, Andrew Adkins, Aaron Johnson, and Caleb Johnson; one niece Gilda Hall Robinson of Branchland. Her special cousin that lived with her Margie Ashworth. Her special girls whom she treated as daughters Donna Parsons her caregiver, Peggy Watson, and Connie Davidson Maynard a cousin.
Dot graduated from Guyan Valley High School. She was a homemaker and was always caring for someones children and her Elderly Parents and Granddad. She loved to cook and always welcomed people into her home to visit and eat. Her favorite thing was to can in the summer the garden the garden harvest, to try a new recipe or share recipes with others and to watch her favorite sports teams. She will be greatly missed by the family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday October 19, 2016 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin with Pastor Lennie Romans and Jason McComas officiating. The burial will be in the Dial Cemetery of Four Mile.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Center Point Church in West Hamlin or the Four Mile Church of Jesus Christ on Four Mile or the your favorite local charity.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Terry Triplett and Dr. Michael Collins for the excellent care given to her and the 3rd floor step down unit was wonderful taking care of her during her recent stay.
