Doris Jean Tompkins

Doris Jean Keene-Tompkins, 85, of Danville, WV, passed away January 24, 2025.

She was born April 4, 1939 and was one of five siblings to Clifford Austin and Girlda Pauline Chambers.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, James Melvin Keene, and second husband, Joe Robert Tompkins; brothers Clifford Austin (Jimmy) Chambers and Rondal Gary Chambers; sisters Sally Ann Messer and Pauline Kay Hager; and grandson Vance Rudolph.

She is survived by her daughters, Becky Keene, Kim Lilly (Brent), April Tompkins, and Bobbie Joe Tompkins; grandchildren Lori Baldwin (Josh), J.D. Rudolph, Kaleb Peyton, Keiton Tompkins (Samantha), Kenny Wayne Asbury, and Joey Asbury; great-grandchildren Walker Baldwin, Hunter Peyton, Ryker Shaffer, Rylee Baldwin, Titus Baldwin, and Baine Tompkins; sisters-in-law Liliane Chambers and Patsy Jo Chambers; brothers-in-law Clayton Messer and Grady Hager, Sr.; special friends Nancy Thompson, Corine White, and Diania Bryant; beloved fur babies Bella, Nettie, and Mavis. Doris is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. 

Funeral service and a VFW Ladies Auxiliary ceremony for Doris will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Pastor Thomas Messer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
