Dorothy E. Gilbert

Dorothy E. Plumley Adkins Gilbert, 79, of West Hamlin, WV went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 2, 2014. She was born July 4, 1934 in Branchland, WV, a daughter of the late James and Louisa Nicholas Plumley. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Oneida Adkins Toppins; brothers, Donald and Clovis Plumley; sisters, Gladys, Violet, Imogene, Faye, Oneida and Gertrude.

She is survived by her husband James Gilbert of West Hamlin, four daughters Rita Arbaugh, Rena Chaney (Ruben), Renee Fulks (Bill) all of Branchland, WV and Obita Nelson (Buddy) of Milton, WV; one son, Gary Adkins (Debbie) of St. Albans, WV, and a sister Thelma Peyton. Dorothy has three step daughters, 51 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and step grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday February 5, 2014 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with rev. Robert E. Gillette officiating. The burial will follow in the Curry Chapel Cemetery, Lower Mud River Rd., West Hamlin, WV. A viewing will be Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
