Dorthea Etheleen Workman Green, 81, of Six Mile, WV went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2015 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Shadyside, PA.
She was the wife of the late James L. Green, Jr. for 45 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Winfred Workman & Dorothy Spencer Workman.
Surviving are three children: daughter Doris (James) Brunty of Maryland, son Winfred Green and daughter Marian Vinson of Six Mile. Also surviving are grandchildren Daphne Cahill (Jason) Clark of Maryland, Serena (Roger) McCoy of Ohio, Matthew Cahill (Amanda) of Clarksburg, Natalie Vinson of Ohio, Sandra Vinson of Six Mile and Winfred (Julia) Green Jr. of Ohio; eight great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. One great-grandchild, Kaleb Vinson, was the light of her life and she raised him since he was a small child. She is also survived by a brother, Larry (Lois) Workman of Six Mile; sisters, Elyana (Dana) Ferrell, Marion Workman and Cornelia (Leonard) Bolton, also of Six Mile.
Dorthea was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and beloved by her family and church. She worked with Essex, Inc. in Ohio for over 20 years. Dorthea was a day care provider and an in-home caregiver. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge in Madison, WV. She enjoyed taking trips to the beach with her husband and family, visiting/cooking with family, gardening outside, helping others and being a caregiver for numerous family members. Dorthea was an integral part of her family and a devoted matriarch.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015 at Six Mile United Methodist Church, Six Mile with the Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in the Workman Family Cemetery, Six Mile.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Madison Rebekah Lodge #99 will be having a service at 6:15 p.m.
