Dorthy Mae Cavell

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dorothy M. Cavell of Cox’s Fork WV. Dorothy passed away peacefully at 5:30 pm on Saturday June 29th, 2024 surrounded by friends and family at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan WV. She was born on June 13th, 1943 and was 81 years old at the time of her passing. She was a wonderful mother who was there when we needed her most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

Dorothy was predeceased by Jesse James Hager (father), Mary F. Hager (mother) of Mud River, and Irene Hager (sister) of Six Mile. She leaves behind Sherry Lewis (daughter) the wife of Mike Lewis, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Donald A. Cavell Jr (son) husband of Crystal Cavell of Danville, WV, Hunter Sumpter (grandson) husband of Lindsey Sumpter of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Maggie Clyburn (granddaughter) wife of Dalton Clyburn of Piedmont, Missouri and Parker and Kade Clyburn (great grandchildren).

Full of love, laughter and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. To commemorate her incredible journey through life and to celebrate the love she spread, a memorial service will be held in her honor at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV on July 5th, 2024 starting at 1:00 pm followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Danville memorial Park.
