Douglas Ray “Fat Cat” Brown, 54, of Wharton was born January 1, 1960 and died Thursday, December 19, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Brown and mother, Kathrine Carpenter; sisters, Linda Price and Susie Hager; brother, Larry Brown; and father-in-law, Wayne Setser.
He is survived by his wife Pam; step-son, Ira Rash (Phyllis); sisters, Patsy Evans (Mike) and Sandy Dingess (David); brothers, Roger Brown and Barry Brown (Connie); mother-in-law, Patsy Setser; sister-in-law, Betty Brown; and nieces and nephews.
Doug was a disabled coal miner (Patriot Coal) and a member of UMWA Local 1503. He was a WVU fan and a 1979 graduate of Van High School.
Doug was an organ donor for CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education). In honor of Doug’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude.
