Earl Cleveland Ellis, 63, of Leetonia, OH formerly of Clothier, WV went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2014 after a short battle with cancer.
Earl was a member of Spruce Laurel Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher, he also attended Solid Rock Community Church in Salem, OH. He attended Scott High School, was a member of the UMWA, he was formerly employed at Zapata Coal Corp., Westmoreland Coal Company, Madison Mine and Spring Mountain Coal. The past 17 years he was employed at Fresh Mark, Inc. in Salem, OH.
He was born on December 10, 1950 to the late Griffith O’Dell and Myrtle Marie McNeely Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae Ellis; brother, George Dewayne Ellis; and one granddaughter, Alisha LeeAnn Woods.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memory are two step-sons, Roy Woods of Salem, OH and Ray (Rachel) Wood of Salem, OH; one daughter, Kimberly (Rusty) Ellis of Washingtonville, OH; brothers, Lewis (Rossa) Ellis of NC, Risty Ellis of Six Mile and Danny(Rhonda) Ellis of VA; sisters, Alice (AJ) Gray of KY, Nola Jane (P.K.) Spencer of FL and Ronnie (Roger) Rice of Six Mile. He leaves eleven precious grandchildren whom he loved, Rachelle, Roy,Jr., Eric, Ray II, Lexi, Wesley, Amanda, Anessa, Maurissa, Ari and Audrey; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews that loved him dearly, and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Ralph Caudill and David May officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Low Gap.
