EDDIE WHITE
February 15, 1932 – March 18, 2018

Eddie was born February 15, 1932 to the late George and Myrtle Hicks White. He was one of 13 children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clement, Denny, Warnie, Nev, Howard and his sister Dora. Eddie is survived by his sister Ann Woodrum of Mullens, WV; brothers Dryden (Rose) of Point Pleasant, WV, Bernard (Eileen) of Mason, WV, Harrison (Yong Chin) of VA; son Mike of Garretts Fork, WV; daughters Becky (Steve) McCloud of Foster, WV, Erin White of Madison, WV; son Eric(Kayla) Burton of Dog Fork, WV. Grandchildren, Chrissy, Shane, Tootie, Mikey, Steven and Elizabeth; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 18, where he proudly served his country. After returning home he began working in the coal mines with several of his brothers. In 1973 Eddie graduated from the Mine Safety and Health Administration Training Academy in Oak Hill, WV. He then worked as a MSHA Federal Mine Inspector Roof Control Specialist for 25 years until his retirement in the 1990’s. Eddie promised his Dad that he was going to make the mines safe and that is just what he did to the best of his ability. He cut no slack even to his own son at his mine. When it came to the safety of him and others, Eddie took pride in his job and was well respected by others.

Eddie was baptized in his early adulthood life by his brother Rev. Howard White at Workman’s Branch.

Later in life Eddie was stricken with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. During this time his daughter Becky and her family stepped in and took care of him without regret. Day in and out she attended to his needs with the help of her loving husband Steve and others.

Eddie enjoyed woodworking, hunting, golf, bowling and mowing grass on good days.

On March 18, 2018, Eddie’s journey was over…he was finally going home.
