Edward E. Bowles, 86, of Millwood, WV formerly of Putnam County, died on December 11, 2018 at Hubbard hospice House after a long illness.
He was born September 10, 1932 to the late Bernard and Gladys (Barker) Bowles.
Ed spent most of his childhood at Ridgeview in Boone County, WV. He was a graduate of Sherman High School. Ed worked several years at the Charleston Gazette and Daily Mail before becoming a Nationwide Insurance Agent in Hurricane, WV. He was a devoted Christian, giving his life to the Lord when he was 36 years old. He attended Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Lighthouse Baptist, and Grace Baptist Temple. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, spending many days in Pochahontas County, and traveling to his second home in Collbran, Colorado.
He is survived by his two sons, Eddie Bowles of Millwood, WV and David (Janet) Bowles of Foster; grandsons, Eddie and Michael Bowles, and Davey and Brett Bowles; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Maggie Gunnoe, Carol Starling, Judy McComas, and Joyce Barker; one brother, Ron Bowles; and aunt, Sylvia Hackney.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 14 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with John White officiating. Burial will follow in Barker Cemetery, Ashford.
