Eliza Margarette Harrison, lovingly known as “Granny,” 98, of Drawdy went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Danville, WV. She was born on June 16, 1917, a daughter of the late Silas and Anna Mae Shabdue.
Margarette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a longtime member of the Drawdy Church of Christ. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening, gensingin’, and molly-moocher huntin’. She was a “Granny” to everyone.
In addition to her parents, her brothers, Charlie, Eugene, Howard and Arnold Shabdue and her sisters Ada Dolin, Goldie McConnell, and Oma Pauley preceded Granny in death. Her grandson, Carl Huffman, and his father, Gene Huffman, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy “Dotty” Oge from Killeen, TX, and children, Shirley Huffman of Danville, Bob & Judy Peters of Drawdy, and Gary & Phyllis Ball of New Port Richey, FL.
Granny will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Ray & Debbie Peters of Madison, Donnie & Tamy Huffman of Drawdy, and Kelly & Todd Griffith of Madison; her great-grandchildren, Josh and LeAnn Huffman, Kirstin and Jesse Mace, Whitney Rae and Jeremy Hatcher, Zach Peters, Hannah and Kari Griffith, Courtney Huffman and JoeBob Peyton, Alesha Huffman and Timmy Tramontano and Jonathan (Jenny) Buffington; and her great-great grandchildren, Ethan, Eliza, Isaiah, Harper, Allison, Jaylyn, and Jaslyn.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Matthew Poorman and the staff at Hillcrest Nursing Home and Hospice for their compassionate care.
Handley Funeral Home in Danville will provide funeral services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 15 with John Steele officiating. Granny will be buried in the Shabdue Family Cemetery, Drawdy.
