Elke Emma Schbauch Johnson

Elke Emma Schbauch Johnson, 82 of West Hamlin, entered into her Heavenly home on December 17, 2023.  Born,  April 28, 1941 in Giessen Germany, where at the age of 20, a handsome young American soldier caught her eye when he winked at her.  At that moment she fell for the charm of the love of her life, Roger Gene Johnson.  They married July 31, 1963, and she followed him halfway around the world, spending over 60 years together, building a wonderful life, raising 4 kids whom her world revolved around.

Those left to cherish her memory, along with her husband are, Carmen (Steve) Blankenship of West Hamin, Debra Ann  (Brian) Wright of West Hamlin, Anthony (April) Johnson, of Salt Rock, and Renata (Matt) Adkins also of West Hamlin.  Of those four children she had 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.   

She attended Center Point Church where she accepted Jesus as her Savior, in January, 2017. There she enjoyed singing in the choir and loved being a part of many Christmas programs. 

The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for the most compassionate care for this wonderful woman.  They went above and beyond.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm and funeral service, Thursday December 21, 2023, 1:00 pm, at McGhee Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV, with Pastor Jonah Adkins officiating.  Burial will be at Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington in her honor.
