Elmer Lester Maynard

Elmer Lester Maynard, 79, of Greenview, WV was born November1, 1943 and passed away unexpectantly at Boone memorial Hospital on June 25, 2023 with several of his friends and family by his bedside holding his hand.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Hallie Marie Maynard and their 6 children; Elmer Maynard, Jr 48 of Danville, WV, John Maynard 46 of Tennessee, Anthony Maynard 41 of Beckley, WV, Jenny Maynard 40 of Oceana, WV, Zowie Maynard 19 of Danville, and Kloe Maynard 17 of Greenview, his 7 grandchildren; Toby Maynard 25 of Huntington, WV, Paige Maynard 17 of Greenview, Brennon Maynard 13 off Greenview, Tyler Maynard 23 of Tennessee, Isiah Maynard 19 of Tennessee, Haley Maynard 22 of Beckley, and Mac Maynard 20 of Beckley, and his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Maynard 2 of Beckley and Zaira Maynard 1 of Huntington. He is also survived by his siblings; Vady Maynard of Wayne Co., WV, Mae Maynard of Wayne Co, and Sammy Meade of Columbus, OH, and a host of family and friends.

Elmer was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was cherished by the many extended family and many friends he had made throughout his life, and he will live in our hearts and be sadly missed. Elmer left a lasting impression on anyone he came in contact with. Elmer lived a simple life, and no one had ever seen or came across anything that Elmer couldn’t fix, build, and/or put together, he was the very handy handyman kind of man.

Viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville and services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Meeker conducting the service. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.

A dinner will follow at Prayer Connection Lighthouse across from Wendy’s in Danville.
